Free Saplings Distributed Under ‘Clean Tongibari, Green Tongibari’ Initiative

To mark World Environment Day, prominent businessman and social worker, Md. Selim Sheikh has launched a free sapling distribution campaign across Tongibari Upazila.
As part of the initiative, saplings were distributed among students of Rongmehar High School on Thursday, June 11, 2026.
The event was attended by the school's Headmaster, Haniful Islam, as the chief guest. Others present included teacher Basudeb, Ershad Sheikh, Arif Hossain Dewan, and Taijul Islam Rana, General Secretary of Sonarang-Tongibari Union Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.
Speaking on the occasion, Md. Selim Sheikh said that the campaign is part of his broader social development agenda under the “Clean Tongibari” and “Green Tongibari” programs.
He announced a target of planting 50,000 trees across Tongibari Upazila to promote environmental sustainability and increase green coverage.
According to him, sapling distribution and tree plantation activities will continue in schools, colleges, and various social institutions throughout the upazila in the coming months.
The initiative aims to raise environmental awareness and contribute to building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Tongibari.
