Taslim Ahmed Shuvo, an SSC candidate from Pajulia village in Gazipur, was struggling to continue his education amid financial hardship. His participation in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination had become uncertain because his family could not afford nearly two years of outstanding school fees, examination fees and registration charges. In response, the ABG (Anvir Bashundhara Group) Foundation has stepped forward with financial assistance to help him clear the outstanding dues and move forward with his education.

Shuvo’s father earns a living by purchasing milk from a local dairy farm and selling it at the market. He also works on other people’s agricultural land to support the family. With limited income, covering his son’s educational expenses had become a significant challenge.

Despite these difficulties, Shuvo has continued pursuing his studies. For the past four years, he has received a monthly educational scholarship of Tk 1,000 through Bashundhara Shuvosangho. The scholarship has played an important role in helping him continue his education.

However, the family’s financial difficulties intensified when Shuvo enrolled in coaching classes to prepare for the SSC examination. Although he used his scholarship money to pay the monthly coaching fees, he could not arrange the funds needed to clear his outstanding school fees, examination charges and registration costs. As a result, his participation in the SSC examination was in jeopardy.

After learning about Shuvo’s situation, the ABG Foundation stepped in to help prevent his education from being disrupted. Last Sunday, a donation was provided at Mofiz Uddin Khan High School in Chapulia, Gazipur metropolitan area, to cover his two years of outstanding school fees, examination fees, SSC registration charges and other dues.

On the occasion, Lutfor Rahman, staff photojournalist of Kaler Kantho, handed over the ABG Foundation’s donation cheque to the school’s headteacher, Asma Akter; student Taslim Ahmed Shuvo; and his mother, Nasima Begum.

Asma Akter, headteacher of Mofiz Uddin Khan High School, said the educational scholarship programme of Bashundhara Shuvosangho was helping many underprivileged and meritorious students across the country, not just in Gazipur. The support enables students to overcome financial barriers and continue their education. She also praised the ABG Foundation’s initiative, describing such humanitarian efforts as an example for supporting talented students.

Expressing her gratitude, Shuvo’s mother, Nasima Begum, thanked the ABG Foundation and those associated with the Bashundhara Shuvosangho scholarship programme for their support.

The financial assistance has opened a path for Shuvo to overcome the uncertainty that threatened to interrupt his education. For talented students facing similar financial difficulties, initiatives like this offer more than monetary support—they provide renewed hope and encouragement to pursue their dreams.
