Formula One Cancels Bahrain and Saudi Arabia Races Due to Ongoing Middle East Conflict
Published : 22:02, 15 March 2026
Formula One has officially cancelled the upcoming Bahrain and Saudi Arabia Grand Prix races due to the escalating conflict in the Middle East. The races were originally scheduled for April 12 and April 19, 2026.
The decision was confirmed by Formula One in a statement on March 15, citing the ongoing regional tensions as the primary reason for the cancellations. Although alternative arrangements were considered, Formula One stated that the races would not be rescheduled.
Mohammad Bin Sulayem, President of Formula One, emphasised that the safety of participants, crew, and spectators is the top priority. He further added that ensuring the well-being of everyone involved in the sport is more important than holding these races amidst the volatile situation in the region.
The cancellation of these races marks a significant disruption in the Formula One calendar and highlights the growing instability in the region. Fans and drivers alike are awaiting updates on how the rest of the season will unfold amid the ongoing security concerns.
