Ending all speculation, Mohamed Salah has finally made the difficult decision to say goodbye to his beloved Anfield. After numerous records and trophies with Liverpool, the Egyptian forward will leave the Reds this season.

On Tuesday (March 24) night, Salah made the long-awaited announcement in an emotional video message to Liverpool supporters.

Although his contract was extended for another two years last year, his chemistry with the new coach, Arne Slot, did not develop well. Frustrated by sitting on the sidelines repeatedly, Salah had expressed his anger, saying, "I was thrown under the bus." This bitterness, combined with his declining form on the field, signaled that the departure had been on the cards for a while. In his video message, Salah said, "Unfortunately, that day has come. This city, the people here, have become a part of my life. Liverpool is not just a club; it is a name that represents passion."

Since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017, Salah has been the catalyst for Liverpool's resurgence. With 255 goals in 435 matches, he is the club's third-highest scorer in history. His trophy cabinet includes two Premier League titles, a Champions League title, a FIFA Club World Cup title, and nearly every possible title. On a personal level, he has won the Premier League Golden Boot four times. He said to the supporters, "You’ve given me the best times of my life. Because of you, I will never walk alone."

Following Salah's announcement, Liverpool authorities paid tribute to his illustrious career in a statement. The club stated that this separation would take place by mutual agreement after the 2025-26 season. Salah’s nine unforgettable years at Anfield will be celebrated with the respect it deserves. The club also confirmed that Salah is determined to give his best in the remaining part of the season. However, his next destination, whether it is the Saudi Pro League or elsewhere, remains unclear.
