Meeting Held Under Prime Minister’s Chairmanship to Improve Living Standards of Salt Farmers

A meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was held to discuss measures for ensuring fair prices for salt farmers and improving their living standards.
The meeting took place on Monday at the Prime Minister’s office at the Cabinet Division in Bangladesh Secretariat.
Deputy Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Zahidul Islam Rony confirmed the matter.
He said the meeting emphasized ensuring fair prices for salt produced by local farmers. Discussions were also held on improving the socio-economic condition of salt farmers, reducing production costs, strengthening market management, and increasing government support.
The meeting also stressed the importance of adopting long-term plans to ensure sustainable livelihoods for salt farmers in coastal regions. Various issues related to protecting and increasing domestic salt production were also discussed.
Among others, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muqtadir, Economic and Planning Adviser to the Prime Minister Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Finance Secretary Khairuzzaman Majumder, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Abdur Rahim Khan, Industries Secretary Obaidur Rahman, and Chairman of the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation Saiful Islam were present at the meeting.
