The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Noakhali District Unit has been awarded for successfully solving a sensational double murder case involving a mother and her young son who went missing nearly two years ago in Sonaimuri, Noakhali.

The victims, Kamala Khatun, 35, and her nine-year-old son Noman, had disappeared under mysterious circumstances, leaving investigators with few leads. After an extensive investigation, CID officers uncovered the truth behind what had become a high-profile and previously clue-less murder case.
In recognition of the successful investigation, Acting Chief of the Criminal Investigation Department and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ali Akbar Khan presented an award to the CID Noakhali District Unit. The award was received by members of the investigation and operations team led by Additional Superintendent of Police Muhammad Raisul Islam.
According to CID officials, the breakthrough was achieved through a combination of advanced technological analysis, intelligence gathering, forensic investigation, and a series of coordinated operations conducted over an extended period.
The investigation revealed that Kamala Khatun and her son were allegedly murdered as part of a premeditated plot motivated by the desire to seize property worth nearly Tk 10 million. Following the murders, the perpetrators reportedly concealed the bodies in an attempt to destroy evidence and avoid detection.
Based on confessional statements made by the arrested suspects and information obtained during the investigation, CID officers later recovered the remains of the victims.
CID officials stated that legal proceedings against those involved are currently underway.
Commending the officers for their professionalism, dedication, and perseverance, CID Chief Ali Akbar Khan said the successful resolution of such a complex and long-running case reflects the department’s commitment to uncovering the truth and bringing offenders to justice.
He also congratulated all officers involved in the investigation and encouraged them to continue serving with the same level of integrity and professionalism in future cases.
