Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to formally begin his campaign for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Elections from Sylhet on 22 January 2026.
The party announced that he will kick off the election drive by visiting the shrines of Hazrat Shah Jalal (R) and Shahporan (RA), a move that continues a long-standing tradition within the party.
According to BNP sources, the campaign will officially begin the day after the election symbols are allocated, which is scheduled for 21 January 2026. Beginning from Sylhet, the campaign is expected to include roadshows, public meetings, and interactions with voters as Tarique Rahman travels towards Dhaka by road.
At a recent gathering with media editors in Dhaka, Rahman stated that with elections approaching, the party will present its plans to the public from 22 January onward. He emphasized the party’s intention to engage directly with the electorate as part of its nationwide campaign strategy.
Party officials also highlighted that Tarique Rahman’s return to active politics follows his homecoming to Bangladesh after 17 years abroad, and his appointment as BNP chairman. The Sylhet campaign launch is being viewed by supporters as both a symbolic and strategic beginning of the party’s election efforts.
