The National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate has fined four brand outlets in Rangpur a total of 150,000 Taka for selling unauthorized foreign products at inflated prices.

The outlets, Nishat Benarsi, Royalty, Vintage World, and Top Ten, were fined during an operation conducted on March 11 by a mobile court in collaboration with RAB-13. The operation was launched after receiving secret information that these outlets were selling illegally imported foreign goods to deceive customers by charging excessive prices.

Mohammad Jahangir Alam, the Division Director of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate in Rangpur, explained that the investigation revealed evidence of fraudulent activities in the sale of foreign goods. The fines were imposed as follows:

Nishat Benarsi was fined 20,000 Taka for selling Indian sarees without proper documentation.

Royalty Megamall was fined 30,000 Taka for selling foreign cosmetics without any proof of import documents.

Both Vintage World and Top Ten were fined 50,000 Taka each for similar violations.

The authorities also issued warnings to the stores about the need to follow proper consumer rights regulations to avoid future penalties. These actions aim to ensure fair trade and protect customers from fraudulent practices.
