In preparation for the first session of the 13th National Parliament, which will take place tomorrow, Thursday, March 12, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced special traffic arrangements for the areas around the Parliament Building in Dhaka.
According to a press release issued on Wednesday, March 11, by Deputy Police Commissioner Mohammad Talebur Rahman of the DMP Media and Public Relations Division, special traffic measures will be implemented to manage the increased movement of vehicles around the Parliament and its surrounding areas.
This will involve the movement of dignitaries, including the President, Prime Minister, Members of Parliament, foreign diplomats, and political leaders.
To avoid congestion, the DMP traffic division will implement diversions between 8 AM and 11 AM on specific roads. The diversions and alternate routes are as follows:
Indira Road to Begum Rokeya Sarani: Vehicles coming from Indira Road and heading toward Begum Rokeya Sarani through Urojahaj Mor will not be allowed to turn right. They will need to go straight through Manik Mia Avenue and Mirpur Road to reach their destinations.
Manik Mia Avenue to Begum Rokeya Sarani: Vehicles coming from Manik Mia Avenue, heading toward Begum Rokeya Sarani via Khejurbagan, will be directed to avoid the left turn and will instead have to follow Farmgate to reach their destination.
Additionally, a one-way traffic system will be implemented on both sides of the road from Urojahaj Mor to Khejurbagan, where southbound traffic will be regulated.
The DMP has requested the cooperation of the public, urging citizens to follow the traffic guidelines and avoid unnecessary delays. The police department has emphasized the need for everyone to adhere to the guidelines to ensure smooth traffic flow and minimize congestion during the high-profile event.
