Mohammed Shahabuddin has urged the nation to uphold the spirit of Eid-ul-Azha by working together to build a just, democratic, and prosperous Bangladesh.

In an Eid message issued on Thursday, the President said the festival teaches the values of sacrifice, compassion, harmony, and social solidarity. He called on people to reject division and inequality and instead embrace fairness, humanity, and mutual respect.

In a recorded video message from Bangabhaban, the President extended Eid greetings to the people of Bangladesh and Muslims around the world, saying the true essence of Qurbani lies not only in animal sacrifice but also in overcoming hatred, arrogance, and selfishness.

He encouraged citizens to share the joy of Eid with poor and underprivileged people and urged affluent members of society to stand beside those in need.

The President also stressed the importance of protecting public health and the environment by ensuring the quick disposal of sacrificial waste and maintaining cleanliness during Eid celebrations.

Later, President Shahabuddin and his wife, Dr. Rebecca Sultana, exchanged Eid greetings with people from different professions and backgrounds at Bangabhaban.

The event was attended by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury, cabinet members, election officials, diplomats, and senior civil and military officers.

Earlier in the morning, the President joined the main Eid congregation at the National Eidgah and offered prayers for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of the nation.
