CID Further Investigation Report in Osman Hadi Murder Case Set for June 17

A court has set June 17 as the new date for submitting the further investigation report in the murder case of Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
The report was scheduled to be submitted today before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court in Dhaka. However, as the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) failed to file the report, Additional CMM Safatullah rescheduled the hearing.
According to case documents, Osman Hadi was shot by assailants on December 12 last year at around 2:20 PM at Box Culvert Road under Paltan Police Station area while returning after Friday prayers.
Following the incident, Inquilab Mancha member secretary Abdullah Al Jaber filed a case with Paltan Police Station on December 14. Hadi was later taken to Singapore for advanced treatment but died on December 18 while undergoing treatment.
On December 20, the court added Section 302 (murder) to the case following an application by the investigating officer.
Earlier, on January 6, the Detective Branch (DB) filed a charge sheet against 17 accused persons. However, the complainant expressed dissatisfaction and filed a no-confidence petition on January 15.
The court accepted the petition and ordered further investigation by the CID.
Out of the 17 accused, 11 are currently in jail, while 6 remain absconding.
