5.6-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Bhutan, Tremors Felt Across Bangladesh

Dhaka, June 8: A moderate earthquake originating in Bhutan was felt in Dhaka and several parts of Bangladesh late Sunday night, causing brief concern among residents. No immediate reports of casualties or significant damage were received.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the earthquake measured 5.6 on the Richter scale.
The tremor occurred at 11:36 pm local time and was centered approximately 19 kilometers north-northeast of Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. The earthquake originated at a depth of 10 kilometers beneath the Earth's surface.
Data from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) indicated that the epicenter was located near latitude 27.64 degrees north in a mountainous region of Bhutan.
Farzana Sultana, Assistant Meteorologist at the Seismic Observation Center of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, confirmed that the epicenter was approximately 432 kilometers north of Dhaka.
The tremors were felt in the capital and several other regions across the country. However, authorities reported no immediate damage or injuries following the earthquake.
