Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon has left Dhaka for China on an official visit at the invitation of the Chinese government.

Prior to his departure, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen met the minister at the VIP lounge of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. The two sides held a brief discussion on matters related to the upcoming visit.

During the visit, the minister is scheduled to attend the 5th CMG Forum, organized by China Media Group, to be held from June 8 to 11.

He is also expected to hold a bilateral meeting with China’s Minister of Information and Broadcasting. The meeting will focus on strengthening cooperation in information management, media collaboration, digital communication development, and data exchange between the two countries.

Discussions may also include the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Bangladesh and China in the field of information management.

Diplomatic sources suggest that the visit is expected to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and China in the areas of information, technology, and media.
