Nearly Tk 6.4 Billion Collected in Toll from Padma and Jamuna Bridges in 10 Days

Bangladesh Bridge Authority has collected nearly Tk 6.4 billion in tolls from vehicles crossing the Padma and Jamuna bridges over the last 10 days, according to an official press release issued on Sunday.
The authority said the revenue was generated between May 21 and May 30 as part of coordinated measures taken to ensure smooth, safe and uninterrupted travel during the Eid-ul-Azha holiday season.
On the Padma Bridge, a total of 318,515 vehicles crossed during the 10-day period, generating toll revenue of Tk 3.61 billion (Tk 36.11 crore).
Meanwhile, the Jamuna Bridge recorded 361,482 vehicle crossings during the same period, earning Tk 2.76 billion (Tk 27.68 crore) in toll collection.
In total, the two major bridges recorded combined toll revenue of approximately Tk 6.4 billion during the Eid holiday rush.
The Bridge Authority said that due to effective planning and coordinated traffic management, travelers experienced a smooth, safe, and orderly journey on highways during the Eid period.
In a statement, Secretary of the Bridges Division and Executive Director of Bangladesh Bridge Authority Mohammad Abdur Rouf said that the Prime Minister closely monitored Eid travel arrangements to ensure safe and hassle-free journeys for citizens.
He added that continuous monitoring by the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges also contributed to improved travel management and reduced congestion during the holiday period.
