The government has cancelled the licenses of three recruiting agencies and confiscated their security deposits for allegedly sending 30 Bangladeshi workers to Russia through fraudulent promises of high salaries and attractive employment benefits.

The action was taken on the instructions of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury.

The agencies whose licenses have been revoked are RS International (RL-1428), Jabal-e-Noor (RL-2505), and TS Overseas Limited (RL-1755).

Issuing a stern warning, the minister said no individual, group, or organization involved in deceiving citizens and putting their lives at risk through fraudulent overseas recruitment practices would be spared.

He emphasized that the reputation of Bangladesh’s overseas employment sector would not be allowed to suffer because of dishonest recruiting agencies, adding that monitoring and regulatory oversight would be further strengthened to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The minister also said the government is working through diplomatic channels to ensure the safe and prompt return of the 30 affected Bangladeshi nationals from Russia.

He has already spoken with the Bangladesh Ambassador in Moscow and instructed the embassy to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and welfare of the victims.

The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has once again urged aspiring migrant workers to carefully verify the legal status of recruiting agencies and thoroughly review employment terms and conditions before making any financial commitments or travel arrangements.
