Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s 10-point directives have brought “visible positive changes” in this year’s Eid-ul-Azha management, said his adviser and spokesperson, Mahdi Amin.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon on Monday afternoon, he said the government placed special emphasis on 10 key public-focused areas during Eid management.

These included ensuring smooth Eid travel, timely payment of workers’ wages and bonuses, protecting local cattle markets, rapid waste disposal, discipline in public transport, curbing extortion and syndicates, uninterrupted electricity supply, public safety, proper management of the leather sector, and stabilising essential commodity prices.

He claimed that coordinated implementation of these measures improved overall Eid services and made public service delivery more people-oriented.

He also said that while institutional weaknesses accumulated over many years cannot be resolved in a short period, gradual improvements are being made.

The briefing highlighted that coordinated efforts from top government levels to field administration contributed to better service delivery during Eid-ul-Azha.

Key Eid Management Directives

  1. Travel & Traffic Management: Extended holidays and monitoring to reduce congestion.

  2. Worker Payments: Timely wages and bonuses are ensured in various sectors.

  3. Cattle Market Regulation: Illegal cattle entry was prevented, and supply was ensured.

  4. Waste Management: Rapid waste removal in major cities, especially Dhaka.

  5. Transport Discipline: Fare control and safer travel initiatives implemented.

  6. Anti-extortion Drive: Crackdown on illegal tolls and syndicates in cattle markets.

  7. Electricity Supply: Minimal load shedding during the Eid period.

  8. Public Safety: Monitoring ensured a stable law and order situation.

  9. Leather Sector: Efforts made to ensure fair pricing and supply of salt.

  10. Market Stability: Prices of essentials kept under control.

Officials present at the briefing included the Prime Minister’s speech writer, Mahfuzur Rahman, Deputy Press Secretaries, Md. Sujauddoula and Nazmul Haque Khan, and Assistant Press Secretary Abdullah Al Mahmud Shahriar.
