Muhidul Islam Appointed New Chairman of BIWTA

Md. Muhidul Islam, an Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Shipping, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority.
The appointment places an experienced civil servant at the helm of the country's key inland water transport regulatory authority.
Before joining BIWTA, Muhidul Islam served as Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and also held the position of Member (Security) at the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh.
Throughout his administrative career, he has served in several important field-level positions, including key assignments in the districts of Kishoreganj and Rajbari, among others.
Academically, he holds an advanced degree in Maritime Affairs from the World Maritime University, an institution established under the auspices of the International Maritime Organization, a specialized agency of the United Nations.
Officials and industry stakeholders expect that his combination of administrative expertise and maritime knowledge will contribute to strengthening and modernizing BIWTA’s operations in the years ahead.
