Bangladesh Police No Longer Needs Me

Police Superintendent (Supernumerary) Md. Rezaul Karim has expressed frustration on Facebook after being attached from the City Special Branch (SB) to the APBn and Specialized Training Centre in Khagrachhari.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday evening, Rezaul Karim questioned the decision and said it appeared that his services were no longer needed in the police department.
He said that during his 15-year career in the police, he had spent around nine years in what he described as “dumping postings.” However, he said he had never complained about such assignments.
In his post, he alleged that the department was more suitable for officers who engage in sycophancy, while officers who speak the truth, follow rules and work courageously do not receive due recognition.
Rezaul also said that he had performed his duties with “100 percent honesty and transparency,” but was still facing such a posting decision.
Claim over a shared newspaper report
In a note attached to his Facebook post, Rezaul Karim said that a news report had recently been published in a daily newspaper regarding the postings of several officers.
According to him, he had shared the report on his Facebook account. Later, a senior official of the Police Headquarters asked him about the matter, and he responded to the official.
He said he subsequently deleted the shared news post, but was still attached to the specialised training centre in Khagrachhari.
Rezaul described the incident as another example of how officers are evaluated within the Bangladesh Police.
Joined police through 29th BCS
According to available information, Md. Rezaul Karim joined the Bangladesh Police in 2011 through the 29th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination.
He has served in various positions during his career and most recently worked as an Additional Superintendent of Police in Rajbari.
He was serving as an SP (Supernumerary) at the City Special Branch before the latest order.
Attached to Khagrachhari training centre
A notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday attached Rezaul Karim from the City SB to the APBn and Specialized Training Centre in Khagrachhari.
No immediate statement from the relevant authorities was available regarding the allegations and concerns raised by the police officer in his Facebook post.
