BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam was a major source of inspiration behind the country’s movements and struggles.

Rizvi made the remarks on Thursday (August 27) after paying tribute at Nazrul Islam’s grave on the Dhaka University campus on the occasion of the poet’s 50th death anniversary.

People from various political, social and cultural organisations, as well as literature enthusiasts, gathered at the poet’s grave to pay their respects.

Rizvi said Nazrul’s works had inspired people throughout the country’s independence movement and the 2024 mass uprising. He added that Nazrul’s words continue to inspire people to stand against any conspiracy against the country’s sovereignty.

The BNP leader said Nazrul spent his life speaking out against injustice, oppression and persecution. His literature carries strong messages of equality, humanity and resistance.

He further said Nazrul’s poems and songs have inspired people during various mass movements and struggles across the country over the years.

According to Rizvi, Nazrul’s ideals and creative works remain an important source of inspiration for people in every movement and struggle.
