Khaleda Zia’s London Transfer Postponed- Medical Board Rules She Is Not Fit to Fly

Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s planned flight to London for advanced medical treatment has been delayed after doctors concluded she is currently unfit for air travel.
The medical board overseeing her care at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, led by her personal physician, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, said that despite previously arranging an air ambulance from Qatar, her health remains too fragile for the stresses of a long-distance flight.
The decision came after an urgent assessment, during which doctors noted only slight improvements in vital signs and warned that flying under her present condition could pose serious risks.
The delay compounds earlier setbacks: the original Qatar-sent air ambulance failed to arrive due to technical issues, prompting Qatar to arrange a replacement aircraft from Germany. Even with the alternate air ambulance on standby, the medical board reiterated that transfer abroad would only proceed when Khaleda’s health permits.
While party leaders previously expressed hope she might travel by Sunday, officials now say the date remains dependent on her stability and a future medical clearance. Meanwhile, specialists from Bangladesh, the UK, and China continue to treat her in intensive care, under close monitoring and strict instructions to avoid undue stress or travel until she is fully stabilized.
