Salah Says He’s Been “Thrown Under the Bus”

Mohamed Salah, the long-serving forward for Liverpool FC, has publicly voiced deep frustration over his diminished role at the club,
claiming he has been “thrown under the bus” after being benched for three consecutive matches, including during a 3–3 draw with Leeds United. He stated that despite his extensive contributions over the years, he has been scapegoated for the club’s recent struggles.
Salah described the situation as a breakdown in his relationship with manager Arne Slot, claiming that promises made during the summer when he signed a contract extension have not been honoured.
He expressed disbelief at being sidelined, emphasising that this is the first time in his career he has spent consecutive games on the bench. He said he feels that “someone wanted me to get all of the blame.”
Looking ahead, Salah suggested that the upcoming home match against Brighton & Hove Albion could be his last appearance at Anfield before departing for the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt.
While he did not confirm a transfer, he indicated uncertainty about his future at Liverpool and made it clear that he no longer knows whether he belongs at the club despite his affection for the team and its supporters.
Salah’s public remarks have ignited debate over the internal dynamics at the club, the role of management decisions in his reduced playing time, and the broader implications for Liverpool’s season amid a shaky title defence. The comments raise serious doubts over the longevity of one of the club’s modern legends at Anfield.
