The opening day of Glory Girls Tech Fest 1.0 was filled with a vibrant atmosphere and the promising voices of young girls. The event took place on April 24, 2025, at the renowned Viqarunnisa Noon School & College, Bashundhara Branch, in the capital. Organized by ICT Olympiad Bangladesh (ICTOB), the event was led by Sabikun Nahar Rimmi as Project Head, Farhana Islam as Head of Communications, and Snigdha De as Glory Girls Team Leader.

This event marked the beginning of a new journey—a commitment to ensuring active and leadership-oriented participation of women in the tech arena. Under the visionary planning and relentless efforts of Senior Vice Chairman Md. Abdur Rahman Nipu, the unique platform "Glory Girls" was created. Here, girls learn to see technology not just as a subject but as a real-world opportunity. Under his leadership, this initiative became an inspiring movement, empowering girls with confidence, skills, and dreams in technology.

Dalia Nargis, the principal of the school’s day shift, remarked that this event was a call to action—where girls were not just listeners but became innovators, creators, and future tech leaders. The core idea was: when technology meets imagination, it creates new leadership and possibilities.

In Bangladesh, women’s involvement in tech education remains limited. According to the Ministry of Education, while 39% of higher secondary students in science are girls, only 18-20% pursue tech-related fields at the university level. A World Bank 2023 survey revealed that women hold only 13% of tech-based jobs in Bangladesh. Additionally, 76% of young girls have never participated in programming courses or software development training. These statistics highlight the challenges women still face in entering the tech world.

To change this reality, timely, inspiring, and hands-on learning opportunities are essential. Glory Girls Tech Fest 1.0 was one such initiative, where tech-enthusiastic girls got the chance to showcase their skills and gain new inspiration.

This event was not just a celebration—it was a moment to recognize and honor women’s potential, laying the foundation for women’s leadership in a tech-driven Bangladesh. Attendees included educators, researchers, entrepreneurs, and young students, all hopeful for a new beginning.

Engineer Mohammad Shahriar Khan, Founder of ICT Olympiad Bangladesh, said, “This is not just an event—it’s an effective platform to build girls’ confidence in technology. Where tech journeys begin with belief, new leadership emerges. This event is a source of tech-confidence for our girls.”

While the opening day marked the auspicious start of the fest, upcoming events include tech exhibitions, innovation challenges, workshops, and IT quiz competitions—all designed to directly enhance girls' technical skills. Special guests included Sabila Inun, Director of Decostallier; Dr. Tanziba Rahman, Chairman of Freelancer Development Association of Bangladesh; and Arupa Datta, CEO of Arutas BD, along with several other women tech experts.

Through this initiative, ICT Olympiad Bangladesh (ICTOB) has reaffirmed its commitment to women’s tech empowerment. They believe that when imagination connects with technology, a new generation like Glory Girls emerges—future leaders who will shape Bangladesh.
