New details have emerged nearly two months after the deaths of social media influencer Sara Gilleson and her husband, Jeremiah Shawn Duffy, in Owasso, Oklahoma.

According to the office of Oklahoma’s chief medical examiner, Gilleson was shot in the head and died from the gunshot wound. Investigators determined that Duffy later died by suicide.

Owasso police officers recovered the bodies of Gilleson and Duffy from their home at around 11:15 p.m. on July 23. A child who was inside the house at the time called 911 seeking help.

Dispatch audio reportedly captured Gilleson screaming in the background during the emergency call. A gunshot was heard shortly afterwards.

When officers arrived at the residence, they found both Gilleson and Duffy dead. The subsequent investigation determined that Gilleson had been shot, while Duffy’s death was classified as suicide.

Investigators have also examined allegations and family disputes involving Duffy before the deaths. About two weeks before the incident, Gilleson posted a video on TikTok in which she accused her husband of abusing children. Authorities have reportedly been examining whether the allegations and the circumstances surrounding them were connected to the killing.

According to Owasso police, Duffy had worked as a coach for a youth basketball team. He was accused of inappropriately touching a minor female player. After another coach became aware of the allegation, the player’s family was reportedly informed.

On June 10, Gilleson filed for legal protection against Duffy. Following the application, a court ordered Duffy to leave their home.

On the same day, another woman sought a separate protective order on behalf of her 15-year-old daughter against Duffy.

Police investigators also raised allegations that Duffy may have engaged in similar misconduct involving minors over an extended period. Allegations of sexual abuse involving minors were subsequently referred to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for further review.

However, the allegations had not been resolved through the courts before the deaths occurred. The medical examiner’s findings confirming that Gilleson died from a gunshot wound have now brought renewed attention to the case.
