Ajay Devgn-starrer ‘Drishyam 3: The Conclusion’ has made a strong impact at the box office on its opening day. Released in theatres on Friday (October 2), the third and final installment of the popular franchise has surpassed the opening-day collections of its previous two films.
According to box-office tracker Sacnilk, the film earned a net Rs 66.75 crore in India on its first day. Its domestic gross collection stood at around Rs 80.10 crore. With approximately Rs 15 crore from overseas markets, the film’s worldwide gross reached nearly Rs 95.10 crore on opening day.
The first ‘Drishyam’, released in 2015, collected Rs 5.85 crore net in India on its opening day, while ‘Drishyam 2’ earned around Rs 15.38 crore on its first day in 2022. The latest installment has therefore recorded a significantly stronger opening than both previous films.
Ajay Devgn has once again returned as Vijay Salgaonkar, one of the franchise’s most popular characters. His efforts to protect his family through carefully planned moves and layers of mystery have remained a major attraction of the series.
Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the roughly two-and-a-half-hour crime thriller also features Tabu and Jaideep Ahlawat in key roles.
As the concluding chapter of the franchise, the film had generated considerable anticipation even before its release. Its opening-day box-office figures indicate a strong initial response from audiences in theatres.
