The Government of China has expressed deep concern over the escalation of clashes and military tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, and has publicly called on both countries to resolve their differences through dialogue and diplomatic engagement rather than continued fighting.

China’s Foreign Ministry, speaking from the capital Beijing, emphasised that the conflict along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border is destabilising and harmful for the people of both nations.

Chinese officials highlighted the importance of calm and restraint, urging both Islamabad and Kabul to engage in constructive negotiations and work toward an immediate ceasefire.

In its appeal, China underscored that Pakistan and Afghanistan are neighbouring countries with longstanding historical ties, and that their peaceful coexistence is essential not only for regional stability but also for maintaining broader peace in South and Central Asia.

The statement noted that violent confrontations have already caused significant casualties and suffering, and that continued hostilities would only deepen the humanitarian and security crisis.

Beijing also stated that it stands ready to play a constructive role as a mediator and is in active communication with officials from both sides to facilitate the resumption of talks.

Chinese diplomats stressed that dialogue and negotiation are the most viable paths to defusing tensions and preventing further escalation of the conflict.

The appeal coincides with heightened international concern over the border clashes, which have seen cross-border airstrikes and artillery exchanges, leading to casualties on both sides and raising fears of a wider regional confrontation.

In this environment, China’s call for dialogue reflects broader diplomatic efforts to encourage restraint and prevent further deterioration of relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
