At least 15 people were killed after a military aircraft transporting banknotes crashed in Bolivia, authorities confirmed. The plane, reportedly operated by the Bolivian Air Force, went down shortly after takeoff while on a mission to deliver cash to regional financial institutions.

Emergency crews rushed to the crash site, where debris and smoke were seen scattered across a wide area.

Officials said the aircraft was carrying both crew members and security personnel assigned to guard the currency shipment. Preliminary reports suggest the crash may have been caused by mechanical failure, though investigators have launched a full inquiry to determine the exact cause.

The Bolivian government expressed condolences to the families of the victims and pledged a transparent investigation. Aviation authorities have not yet confirmed whether adverse weather or technical malfunction played a role, and recovery operations are ongoing.
