Global Oil Prices Decline Despite Rising U.S.-Iran Tensions

International crude oil prices edged lower on Thursday despite escalating tensions between the United States and Iran in the Middle East, as concerns over immediate supply disruptions eased.
According to Reuters, as of 7:10 a.m. Bangladesh time on Thursday (July 30), Brent crude fell by $1.29, or 1.42%, to $89.45 per barrel. At the same time, U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude declined by 56 cents, or 0.66%, to $83.90 per barrel.
Market analysts said that although the conflict between the United States and Iran has intensified, oil shipments from the Middle East have continued without major disruptions. As a result, immediate concerns over global oil supply have eased, putting downward pressure on prices.
In the previous trading session, however, oil prices recorded sharp gains. Brent crude rose by approximately 7.91%, while WTI climbed 6.56%, marking one of the largest single-day increases since the five-month-long conflict began.
A day earlier, following a temporary lull in hostilities, crude oil prices had fallen by nearly 5%.
