BNP Cancels Final Dhaka Rally, Tarique Rahman to Address Voters Across the City

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced the cancellation of its large-scale final election rally in Dhaka, which had been planned for Sunday, 8 February, in front of its central office in Naya Paltan.
The decision was revealed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed at a programme held at the party’s central office on 6 February.
According to Rizvi, instead of holding a single mass gathering in the capital, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will address voters at multiple locations across both Dhaka North and Dhaka South on 8 and 9 February.
This strategic shift is intended to enable more focused engagement with supporters in different parts of the city during the final days of the campaign ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election scheduled for 12 February.
Rizvi said the change in plans was made in the interest of the party’s election strategy and outreach efforts, and that Rahman will meet voters directly at these dispersed events. He made the announcement as party supporters and newly joined student leaders gathered at the central office.
Several student leaders, including the newly elected Vice-President of Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union, formally joined the party and its student wing, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, at the same event.
Earlier in the week, Rizvi had confirmed that the final rally would take place in front of the Nayapaltan office with Tarique Rahman as the chief guest, but the plan was revised to allow for multiple scheduled speeches over two days.
Tarique Rahman, who is leading the party’s election campaign across the country, has been addressing supporters at rallies in various divisions, highlighting BNP’s campaign themes and seeking to galvanise voter support as the election approaches.
