Zia Memorial Museum to Reopen for Public After Renovation, Says Liberation War Affairs Minister

The government will reopen the historic Zia Memorial Museum in Chattogram for public visitors after completing renovation and modernization works, according to Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan.
Speaking to journalists after inspecting the museum near the Chattogram Circuit House on Friday, the minister said efforts are underway to restore the facility and preserve its historical significance.
He noted that several rooms of the museum are currently under renovation and will be redesigned to display memorabilia, personal belongings, and historical artifacts associated with former President Ziaur Rahman.
According to the minister, the museum serves as an important institution for preserving the legacy of Ziaur Rahman and highlighting his role in various stages of Bangladesh’s political and national development. The modernization project aims to present this history in a more organized and engaging manner for future generations.
Ahmed Azam Khan said the renovated museum will be opened to researchers, students, and the general public, providing a valuable platform for learning about the country's political heritage and historical milestones.
The inspection was attended by State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraq Hossain, Member of Parliament Ershad Ullah, Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mia, and other senior government officials and political leaders.
