Radda Clinic’s signboard restored in Mirpur as renovation work begins

A few days after an attack, looting and vandalism at Radda MCH-FP Centre in Mirpur, Dhaka, a signboard installed at the premises following the incident has been removed. The clinic’s own signboard was put back up on Monday, September 28, as the centre was declared free from occupation.

Local BNP activists and clinic representatives removed the signboard on Monday morning. The health centre’s original signboard was then installed.

Repair work has also begun to address the damage caused by the attack and vandalism. However, medical services have not been suspended. Healthcare workers are attending to patients inside the clinic, while some activities are being carried out outside using chairs and tables.

The attack took place around midnight on September 24 at the centre in Mirpur Section 1. Clinic authorities alleged that, after the incident, a signboard bearing the name “Sammana Shopkeepers’ Cooperative Society Limited” was put up on the premises.

Police have arrested nine people in connection with the incident so far. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said two truckloads of looted goods had also been recovered. Shah Ali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jahangir Alam was withdrawn following the incident.
