Shafiqur Rahman visits Radda Clinic, calls for legal action against those responsible

Opposition leader and Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has called for those involved in the attack and vandalism at Radda Clinic in Mirpur to be identified and brought to justice. He said the law should apply regardless of who committed the offence.

He made the remarks after visiting the clinic in Dhaka on Monday, September 28. During his statement, he said, “We do not want to see the drama of someone causing harm and then pretending to solve it.”

Shafiqur Rahman called for measures to prevent further attacks on the clinic and urged authorities to identify those responsible and ensure appropriate punishment.

He said that while the government speaks of bringing healthcare to people’s doorsteps, doctors, nurses and hospital staff are being insulted in different places. He also highlighted shortages of healthcare workers, saying such conditions make it difficult to ensure proper medical services.

The Jamaat chief expressed concern over the law and order situation, noting that several incidents had taken place in Dhaka in recent days. He said property disputes should be resolved through legal channels and should not be used to justify attacks or attempts to seize property.

He also cautioned against giving the incident a political label. Shafiqur Rahman said that if anyone from his own party was involved, that person should also face legal action.

During the visit, he said initial assistance for affected residents would continue and that further support for local healthcare needs would be provided if necessary.
