Virat Kohli reaches 15,000 ODI runs, sets record as fastest to milestone

India’s star batter Virat Kohli has become the second player after Sachin Tendulkar to score 15,000 runs in One-Day Internationals. He also became the fastest batter to reach the milestone.
Kohli achieved the feat on Sunday, September 27, during the first ODI of India’s three-match series against the West Indies. He reached the landmark with a boundary off Alzarri Joseph during India’s chase.
Kohli reached 15,000 runs in his 303rd ODI innings, in his 315th match. Tendulkar had taken 377 innings to reach the same mark, meaning Kohli achieved it 74 innings faster.
Kohli also brought up his 80th ODI half-century during the innings. He went on to score an unbeaten 139, helping India win the match.
Tendulkar remains the leading run-scorer in ODI history with 18,426 runs. Kohli is second with more than 15,000, followed by Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara with 14,234 and Australia’s Ricky Ponting with 13,704.
