Primary teacher appointment letters to be issued until October 1: Education Minister

Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon has said that the process of issuing appointment letters to primary school teachers will continue until October 1. He said the recruitment process has not yet been finalized and that misleading media reports had caused anxiety among candidates.

The minister made the remarks at a press conference on Monday, September 28, after a meeting of the national steering committee for the observance of World Teachers’ Day 2026 at the Secretariat.

According to the minister, nearly 1.069 million candidates took part in the primary teacher recruitment examination held during the interim government. The government began work to complete the recruitment process in accordance with the required procedures.

He said final applications had been received for 854 candidates from 33 districts, and district primary education officers were issuing appointment letters.

The minister added that verification had revealed changes in some candidates’ addresses. The relevant information is being checked in phases. He criticized reports suggesting that the recruitment process had ended, saying the process was still underway.

According to the minister, appointment letters are yet to be issued to 817 candidates. Their verification and address-related checks are continuing, while cases involving candidates who have not received appointment letters are being reviewed.

He said the appointment-letter process would continue through October 1.
