Greece beat Germany for the first time, handing Klopp a winless start

Greece recorded their first-ever victory over Germany, defeating the four-time world champions 1-0 in the UEFA Nations League. The win came in the teams’ 11th meeting since 1960.

Dimitris Kourbelis scored the only goal in the 74th minute. After a move involving Christos Tzolis, Kourbelis sent a low shot toward goal that deflected off Joshua Kimmich and went into the net.

Germany dominated possession and created chances, but could not find an equalizer. Greece, meanwhile, made the most of one of their opportunities to secure the victory.

The defeat also meant Jürgen Klopp remained without a win in his first two matches as Germany coach. Germany had drawn 1-1 with the Netherlands in his previous game.

Greece moved to the top of Nations League Group A2 with six points from two matches. The Netherlands are second with four points after beating Serbia 2-1, while Germany have one point and sit third.
