Dr Asif Nazrul, former law adviser to Bangladesh’s interim government, has commented on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s political future, saying his departure could bring some changes to India’s politics and society.

Nazrul made the remarks in a Facebook post published at 1:19 pm on Saturday, October 10.

In the post, he wrote, “Modi is disoriented by cockroach bites. I don’t think he will be able to survive for much longer. If Modi falls, will his country change? It will change to some extent. At the very least, anti-Muslim politics will face some setbacks. An increasingly isolated Benjamin Netanyahu will lose a close ally on the international stage. The severe inequality in Indian society may also decrease somewhat.”

Nazrul further claimed that people in Bangladesh had suffered in various ways because of Modi and his politics. He said those affected, along with their families, might find some consolation if Modi lost power.

Concluding his post, Nazrul wrote, “Like many others, I am also waiting to see Modi’s fall.”
