525 Arrested in 24-Hour DMP Drive in Dhaka; 46 Cases Filed

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 525 people during operations across the capital over the past 24 hours and filed 46 cases, according to a police statement.

The information was released in a statement by the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division on Thursday (October 29). Police said the arrests were made during drives in different police station areas across Dhaka, with various items of evidence and narcotics also recovered.

By division, 150 people were arrested in Mirpur, 73 in Tejgaon, 63 in Motijheel, 55 in Wari, 50 in Gulshan, 47 in Lalbagh, 46 in Uttara and 36 in Ramna. Four people were arrested by the Detective Branch, while one was arrested by the SRU division.

During the operations, police recovered 5 kilograms and 255 grams of cannabis, 23,146 yaba tablets and 80 bottles of Eskuf syrup. They also recovered a motorcycle, a private car, two walkie-talkies, six mobile phones and 350 kilograms of scrap cable. One victim was also rescued.

Police said legal proceedings against those arrested are underway.
