Three police personnel, including Constable Foyez Ahmed, have been withdrawn from their respective police stations and attached to the police lines in Chattogram over allegations of stealing 30,000 yaba tablets, holding a truck driver hostage and destroying evidence. Preliminary findings reportedly supported the allegations, prompting administrative action. The incident is now under investigation.

Foyez Ahmed is from Rajarchar village in Rajrajeshwar Union of Chandpur Sadar Upazila. His father’s name is Md. Yakub Gazi. He was serving as a constable at Satkania Police Station in Chattogram. Meanwhile, several photographs of the accused constable have circulated on social media.

According to the allegations, 30,000 yaba tablets were being transported from Chakaria in Cox’s Bazar to Chattogram in a mini-truck on the night of October 24. On the way, Foyez Ahmed and several other police personnel allegedly intercepted the vehicle with motorcycles on an isolated road in Putibila Union of Lohagara Upazila. The names of Satkania Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mahbubul Islam and Constable Md. Gazi Mohsin have also emerged in connection with the incident.

Nasir, the mini-truck driver, alleged that the police personnel handcuffed him and held him hostage. The truck was subsequently taken to the Keranihat area of Satkania. He claimed that 30,000 yaba tablets hidden inside the driver’s seat were removed with the assistance of two alleged police informants, Robin and Momin.

The driver further alleged that the connection to the truck’s CCTV cameras was disconnected to destroy evidence. He also claimed that the camera’s memory card was formatted to prevent investigators from recovering any footage of the incident.

Police sources said the three personnel were accused of taking the seized yaba without depositing it at the police station. After preliminary verification of the allegations, they were withdrawn from their stations and attached to the police lines. The incident is under investigation.

Chattogram Superintendent of Police Md. Masud Alam said, ‘Some irregularities have been observed in the activities of the three accused police personnel. There are also allegations concerning their activities before and after the incident. For this reason, they have been withdrawn from their police station and attached to the police lines as an administrative measure.’
