Claims have circulated on social media that Mohammad Hanif, who allegedly took part in the Shahbagh movement demanding the execution of Mir Quasem Ali, has been appointed Senior General Manager (GM) and Head of Sales at Ibn Sina Pharmaceuticals. The company's Managing Director, Sadrul, has also faced criticism over the alleged appointment. However, Ibn Sina Pharmaceutical Industry PLC has rejected the claims as false and fabricated.

A Facebook user named Masum Ahmed published a post alleging that Mohammad Hanif, who participated in the Shahbagh movement calling for Mir Quasem Ali's execution, is currently serving as Senior GM and Head of Sales at Ibn Sina Pharmaceuticals.

In his post, he called on Jamaat and Islami Chhatra Shibir leaders to protest the alleged appointment. He also demanded that Hanif be removed from his position.

Another Facebook user, Bony Amin, wrote that Mir Quasem Ali was not merely associated with Ibn Sina Trust but had also been one of its founding directors and উদ্যোক্তা. He expressed concern that Mohammad Hanif, whom he described as active in the Shahbagh movement demanding Mir Quasem Ali's execution, was now serving as Senior General Manager and Head of Sales at Ibn Sina.

Meanwhile, a notice related to Ibn Sina Pharmaceuticals' “National Conference 2026” has also circulated on social media. The notice includes a letter bearing Mohammad Hanif's signature. It states that the company's management has decided to hold the conference in Cox's Bazar from January 4 to 8, 2027. Further details would be communicated later, according to the letter.

In response to the allegations, Ibn Sina Pharmaceutical Industry PLC issued a statement describing the claims circulating on social media as false and fabricated.

The statement said the company is publicly listed and has been operating since 1983 in compliance with the rules and regulations of the Directorate General of Drug Administration and other relevant regulatory authorities in Bangladesh.

It further said that certain individuals and groups had recently been spreading defamatory, false and fabricated statements about Ibn Sina Pharma and its management on social media. The company described the matter as regrettable and unwelcome, adding that its board of directors is the highest authority responsible for making decisions on internal company matters.

According to the statement, several sales department employees, including medical promotion officers (MPOs), were recently dismissed under the company's service rules and sales policy over alleged misconduct, financial irregularities and breaches of office discipline. The company also claimed that several officials of Ibn Sina Trust had been dismissed after investigations reportedly established allegations of ethical misconduct.

The company alleged that the dismissed employees were spreading false information on social media to serve their own interests and damage the reputations of Ibn Sina Trust and Ibn Sina Pharma.

It urged shareholders, physicians, employees, chemists and well-wishers not to be misled by the online allegations.
