The 135th Annual Religious Conference (Mahfil) of the historic Sarsina Darbar Sharif concluded on Monday after three days of large-scale religious gatherings and spiritual observance.
The event, which commenced on Saturday, 29 November 2025, brought together more than 500,000 devotees from across the country, reaffirming the Darbar Sharif’s standing as one of Bangladesh’s most prominent spiritual institutions.
The Ambassador of Algeria to Bangladesh, H.E. Abdelouahab SAIDANI, attended the occasion as a distinguished international guest. Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by the spiritual leader of Sarsina Darbar Sharif, Pir Shah Sufi Amir Hizbul Allah Alhaj Hazrat Mawlana Shah Abu Nasr Nesaruddin Ahmad Hossain, reflecting the deep respect and traditional hospitality characteristic of the institution.
Sarsina Darbar Sharif, with its 375-year legacy within the Indo-Pak-Bangla region’s Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat tradition, continues to play a central role in Dawah, Islamic education, spiritual guidance, and social welfare.
Its affiliated institution, the Darussunnat Kamil Madrasa, founded in 1915 and currently educating more than 5,000 students, remains a cornerstone of Islamic scholarship in Bangladesh.
This year’s conference honored the spiritual foundation laid by Hazrat Mawlana Shah Sufi Sayed Ahmad Sharif (R.A.), while also reflecting on the enduring contributions of the former Pir, Shah Sufi Sayed Faizul Haque Sharif (R.A.), whose teachings continue to inspire followers across generations.
During the afternoon session, Ambassador Abdelouahab SAIDANI delivered a speech in Arabic, addressing esteemed scholars, organizers, dignitaries, and the vast congregation of devotees. In his remarks, he expressed his profound gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to him and highlighted the longstanding cultural and spiritual bonds between Algeria and Bangladesh.
He commended the institution’s unwavering dedication to Islamic education, social service, and Dawah work. He also noted the strong commonalities between the Sufi traditions of Algeria and Bangladesh—especially the shared values of charity, unity, collective dhikr, and spiritual discipline—which continue to promote peace, harmony, and brotherhood in the Muslim world.
The conference concluded with speeches from leading scholars of Sarsina Darbar Sharif, followed by a special Munajat led by Hazrat Mawlana Shah Abu Nasr Nesaruddin Ahmad Hossain, praying for the welfare of Bangladesh and the global Muslim Ummah. The prayer created a deeply spiritual atmosphere, strengthening devotion, hope, and unity among the attendees.
The presence of Ambassador Abdelouahab SAIDANI and the warm reception accorded to him underscored the cordial relations and mutual respect between Bangladesh and Algeria. His participation further enhanced the cultural and spiritual ties between the two nations and opened avenues for deeper cooperation.
Sarsina Darbar Sharif reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Islamic teachings and expanding its spiritual, educational, and social contributions. The institution also expressed its continued intention to foster stronger ties and collaboration with Algeria in areas of shared religious and cultural interest.
