Runa Laila to Perform Solo Concert on July 24 in Charity Event for Flood Victims

Legendary South Asian singer Runa Laila will headline a special solo concert on July 24 at the National Theatre Hall of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, where she will also receive a national honour in recognition of her outstanding contribution to music. The programme is scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm.

Organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the event will begin with a felicitation ceremony before the iconic singer takes the stage to perform a selection of her timeless and most popular songs spanning more than six decades of her illustrious career.

The concert has a humanitarian objective as well. According to the organisers, all proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to support people affected by the recent floods. Music lovers have been encouraged to purchase tickets and contribute to the relief effort while enjoying an evening celebrating one of the region's greatest musical icons.

Minister for Cultural Affairs Nitai Roy Chowdhury is expected to attend the programme as the chief guest. State Minister Ali Newaz Mahmud Khaiyam and Adviser Dr. Jahed Ur Rahman will join as special guests, while Cultural Affairs Secretary Kaniz Moula will preside over the event.

Over a career spanning more than six decades, Runa Laila has recorded over *10,000 songs in more than 18 languages*, including Bangla, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi. She has received numerous honours, including Bangladesh's Independence Award and multiple National Film Awards for her contribution to music.

The concert was originally scheduled for July 18 but was later postponed to July 24. The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy said the programme is intended both to celebrate the legendary artiste's enduring legacy and to raise funds for flood victims through the power of music.
