Dr. Sabrina Rubin Chronicles the Life of Music Icon Shuvro Dev in New English Biography

Renowned Bangladeshi singer Shuvro Dev is the subject of a newly published English-language biography titled "A Golden Soul of Music," written by internationally acclaimed author, lyricist, translator, researcher, and physician Dr. Sabrina Rubin.

The biography has been published in New York, USA, by the Odyssey Foundation for Art and Culture and is now available through Amazon as well as selected bookstores across New York. The book has been edited by internationally acclaimed poet Nurul Haque.

In the book, Dr. Rubin presents a compelling literary account of Shuvro Dev's childhood, early musical journey, rise to fame, artistic achievements, and many lesser-known chapters of his personal and professional life. The biography aims to capture not only his musical accomplishments but also the values, passion, and creative spirit that have shaped his decades-long career.

The official unveiling of the book took place in New York, where it was launched by Indian National Film Award-winning actress Rituparna Sengupta.

Dr. Sabrina Rubin has previously authored biographies of numerous distinguished personalities from Bangladesh and abroad. She is internationally recognized for her contributions to English poetry on mental health and for pioneering Photo Poetry. Her books have gained readers in Bangladesh, the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Albania, Palestine, India, Pakistan, Türkiye, and several other countries.

Throughout her literary career, Dr. Rubin has received numerous national and international honors. As a lyricist, her songs have been performed by acclaimed artists including Shuvro Dev, Haimanti Shukla, Usha Uthup, Deb Gautam, and Shan Shaikh. She has also written songs for the Indian Malayalam film industry.

One of Bangladesh's most celebrated vocalists, Shuvro Dev has enjoyed a musical career spanning more than four decades, producing countless hit songs and establishing himself as one of the country's most respected artists. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to Bangladeshi music, he was awarded the prestigious Ekushey Padak in 2024.

His duet performances with renowned Indian playback singer Alka Yagnik earned widespread acclaim across Bangladesh and India.
