Marking World Environment Day, Singer Bangladesh Limited has announced a new in-house plastic recycling initiative aimed at strengthening sustainable manufacturing practices and reducing industrial waste. The company, a subsidiary of global home appliance brand Beko, says the program has already reduced plastic waste from production processes by more than 90 percent.

According to the company, the initiative has also lowered overall non-hazardous waste by around 20 percent, equivalent to reducing approximately 1,200 tons of waste annually.

Under the program, plastic waste generated during refrigerator manufacturing—including High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) and General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS)—is collected, crushed, and recycled for reuse in production. The recycled materials are blended with new resin and utilized in injection molding and extrusion processes.

The initiative enables the company to transform waste into valuable resources while advancing a circular manufacturing model, where materials are continuously reused rather than discarded.

Singer Bangladesh stated that the project reflects its commitment to sustainable production, operational efficiency, and environmentally responsible industrial development, in line with Beko’s long-term sustainability vision.

As one of Bangladesh’s most advanced consumer durables manufacturing facilities, the company’s production plant continues to play a significant role in strengthening local manufacturing capabilities, fostering innovation, and promoting sustainable industrial growth across the country.
