Inauguration of the Barguna Journalists Association Committee working in Dhaka

The inauguration ceremony of the newly elected committee of the Barguna District Journalists’ Association, Dhaka Chapter, was held in a grand event at a restaurant in the capital.

Journalists originally from Barguna, working in various media outlets in Dhaka, along with leaders and members of professional organizations, attended the ceremony.

The chief guest of the event was Tarikul Islam Masum, President of the Barisal Divisional Journalists’ Association. Speeches were delivered by Kamruzzaman Bablu, Bangladesh Representative of TRI World, Turkey; Sohag Yunus, Bashed Akon, former Member of Parliament; Professor Dr. Abdur Rahman Khokon, Advocate Abdul Karim, President of Patharghata Upazila Association; General Secretary Lion Nasir Ahmed, Mostafizur Rahman Shahin, President of Patharghata Foundation; Ziaul Kabir Dulu, President of Barguna District Association, and Lion Faruk Rahman, Chairman of the National Labor Party.

Speakers called for unity in working toward the socio-economic development of Barguna, improving education, healthcare, tourism, river erosion control, and road infrastructure. They also emphasized the need for a dedicated ministry for the development of coastal and riverside communities.

The association is expected to play an important role in professional development, mutual cooperation, and fostering camaraderie among journalists. Speakers highlighted the importance of bringing together all Barguna journalists residing in Dhaka on a single platform to support one another and collectively address professional challenges.

Later in the ceremony, the guests felicitated the association’s office bearers, including President Abdul Khalek Lavlu, General Secretary Toufiq Mahmud, Senior Vice President Shalim Gazi, Vice President Abu Zafar, HM Touhid Hasan, Joint Secretary M. A. Azim, Rukaiya Nazrin, Gazi Shaheen, Treasurer Al Amin Raju, Organizational Secretary Miron Ahmed, and Office Secretary M.

Solaiman, Sports & Cultural Secretary, Nahid Prince, Publicity & Publication Secretary, Sohag Biswas, Training & Research Secretary, Ahmed Ferdous Khan, Welfare Secretary, Miraj Hossain, and Executive Committee Members Fahim Monayem, Nasir Uddin, Kabirul Islam, Shahadat Hossain Babul, Touhidul Islam, and Abu Saleh Musha.

The event was presided over by President Abdul Khalek Lavlu and conducted by General Secretary Toufiq Mahmud.
