Iran Warns of Direct Confrontation if Israeli Attacks on Lebanon Continue

Iran has warned that it could become directly involved in the conflict if Israel continues its military operations in southern Lebanon and Beirut.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Tehran would not only suspend diplomatic engagement but could also move toward direct confrontation if what he described as Israeli aggression persists.
In a post on X on Sunday, Ghalibaf stated that Iran would be prepared to confront its adversaries directly if the situation escalates further.
He strongly criticized the United States and Israel, accusing both countries of failing to uphold commitments to ceasefires and diplomatic dialogue. According to him, violations of agreements related to Lebanon and the imposition of maritime restrictions demonstrate a preference for the use of force over negotiations.
Ghalibaf argued that continued violations and pressure tactics indicate that the parties involved are unwilling to pursue meaningful diplomatic solutions.
The Iranian official also claimed that naval restrictions targeting Iran and Washington’s support for Israel are placing American and Israeli interests across the Middle East at greater risk.
He warned that such actions could make U.S. and Israeli assets in the region increasingly vulnerable amid rising tensions.
Ghalibaf, who plays a key role in Iran’s ongoing negotiations with the United States, suggested that further deterioration in Lebanon could have serious implications for both diplomatic efforts and regional security.
Observers say the remarks underscore growing concerns that the conflict could expand beyond Lebanon if tensions continue to escalate.
