Amid escalating tensions and renewed conflict between Iran and the United States, President Donald Trump has reportedly threatened to seize Iran’s strategic oil hub, Kharg Island.

According to a report published by the Daily Mail, Trump suggested that the United States could consider taking control of the oil-rich island as well as other energy infrastructure assets in Iran.

Strategic Importance of Kharg Island

Kharg Island handles nearly 90 percent of Iran’s crude oil exports, making it a critical lifeline for the country’s economy.

The island is heavily fortified, with missile systems, naval mines, and a strong presence of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, making any potential military operation highly complex and risky.

Trump’s “Hard Strike” Warning

In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that the United States has already carried out significant strikes on Iran’s military capabilities, severely weakening its defense systems.

He further stated that future operations could target Kharg Island and other oil and gas infrastructure, drawing comparisons with U.S. actions in Venezuela’s energy sector.

Rising Regional Tensions

The remarks come amid a series of reported strikes and counterstrikes involving U.S. forces in the Gulf region, including incidents near the Strait of Hormuz, further heightening geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
