Bangladesh scripted history by securing their first-ever bilateral ODI series victory against Australia, winning the three-match series 2–0.

In the second ODI at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday, Bangladesh chased down a revised target of 192 runs to win by five wickets.

Australia Collapsed Early

Australia elected to bat first but suffered a dramatic collapse, losing three wickets without scoring a run. In a rain-affected match reduced to 42 overs, they managed 187 for 8.

Bangladesh bowlers, led by Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman, kept constant pressure on the visitors. Tanvir Islam also picked up two crucial wickets.

A 103-run partnership between Xavier Bartlett and Marnus Labuschagne helped Australia recover slightly, but they failed to finish strongly.

Bangladesh Chase Under Pressure

Chasing 192 under the DLS method, Bangladesh lost an early wicket but recovered through a solid 86-run partnership between Soumya Sarkar and Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Shanto scored 42 before being dismissed, while Liton Das and Mosaddek Hossain failed to capitalize on starts, putting Bangladesh under pressure at one stage.

Miraz–Hridoy Seal the Win

Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Towhid Hridoy held their nerve in the final phase, guiding Bangladesh to victory with 36 balls remaining and five wickets in hand.

Historic Achievement

This marks Bangladesh’s first-ever bilateral ODI series win against Australia, surpassing their only previous victory over the side in Cardiff in 2005.

The win also extends Bangladesh’s home dominance, securing their fifth consecutive ODI series win.

Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman claimed three wickets each, while Tanvir Islam took two.
