U.S. President Donald Trump has declared that the conflict with Iran is over, claiming that Tehran has agreed not to pursue nuclear weapons.

Speaking during a tele-rally in support of Senate candidate Barry Moore on Friday (June 12), Trump said, “We ended the war with Iran today. They agreed they would never possess nuclear weapons, and that was our primary condition.”

Trump stated that negotiations between Washington and Tehran had made significant progress and that a draft agreement was nearing completion. According to him, the deal could be signed in Europe as early as this weekend.

Earlier in the day, Trump had warned of stronger military action against Iran. However, he later announced that planned airstrikes had been suspended due to positive developments in high-level diplomatic talks.

The U.S. president also claimed that once the agreement is finalized, restrictions related to the Strait of Hormuz would be lifted, reducing tensions in one of the world’s most critical energy transit routes.

Iran, however, offered a more cautious assessment. A spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry said negotiations were continuing but emphasized that no final agreement had yet been reached. The spokesperson also accused Washington of introducing additional demands during the talks.

Both the United States and Iran acknowledged the mediation efforts of Qatar in facilitating discussions between the two sides.

Markets reacted positively to the announcement. Brent crude oil prices fell below $90 per barrel, while U.S. stock markets closed higher amid expectations of reduced geopolitical tensions and improved energy market stability.
