At least 14 people were killed after a massive fire broke out in a building housing a coaching centre in the Aliganj area of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday (June 22).

According to NDTV, several students and employees became trapped inside the building as the flames spread rapidly, causing panic among those present.

Eyewitnesses said some students attempted to escape by jumping from the first floor. Videos circulating on social media reportedly show one individual falling while trying to flee the fire.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control after nearly an hour of intensive efforts. Rescue teams later recovered at least 14 bodies from inside the building.

Authorities said the structure was located in a busy commercial area and housed a coaching centre along with several other businesses, including a pet shop. The fire triggered widespread panic in the neighborhood, prompting an immediate rescue operation.

The exact cause of the fire remains unknown. Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine how the blaze started and to assess the full extent of the damage.
