Bangladesh has reiterated its firm stance on not traveling to India to participate in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, citing security concerns as the primary reason.
Despite ongoing discussions, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has remained unchanged in its position regarding player safety. However, Sports and Youth Adviser Asif Nazrul expressed optimism that the International Cricket Council may offer Bangladesh the opportunity to play its World Cup matches in Sri Lanka, considering the board’s concerns.
The issue was discussed in detail during a meeting held on Thursday, January 22, between the sports adviser and national team cricketers. Senior officials of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, including its President Aminul Islam Bulbul, were also present at the meeting.
Bangladesh’s position underscores its emphasis on player security ahead of the global tournament, while remaining hopeful of an alternative arrangement under the supervision of the International Cricket Council that would allow participation without compromising safety.
