The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced a cleanup drive along Dhaka’s 300 Feet Road, officially known as the July 36 Expressway, as well as Airport Road and nearby areas, starting from tomorrow morning.

The initiative follows the large public reception held to mark the return of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman after more than 17 years in exile.

According to the party, the Dhaka Metropolitan North unit of BNP will carry out the cleanup operation. Party leaders and activists from the Dhaka North unit will take part in removing waste and debris generated during the massive gathering.

Tarique Rahman arrived in Dhaka today at 11:40 am at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, accompanied by his wife and daughter. Following his arrival, he addressed a reception rally on the 300 Feet Road in Purbachal, which was attended by thousands of BNP leaders, activists, and supporters from across the country, many of whom gathered despite the winter cold.

BNP leaders explained that the 300 Feet Road was chosen as the venue for the reception programme to minimise public inconvenience and avoid disruption in central or historically sensitive locations in the capital. The decision was taken in line with Tarique Rahman’s instructions to ensure smooth public movement and reduce pressure on key city areas.

The party described the cleanup drive as part of its sense of responsibility towards the city and the public, emphasising that the initiative reflects BNP’s commitment to civic duty following large-scale political programmes.
